Leadpages 2021 year in review

With 2021 almost behind us, it’s time to reflect on the last 12 months and prepare for what lies ahead.

After the interesting year that was 2020 (massive understatement), it’s safe to say that we were all trepidatious as 2021 unfolded. And while there were still many hardships as people around the world tried to get back on their feet, there are definitely reasons to be optimistic for the future.

As for the year at Leadpages, we have plenty of highlights from 2021 to celebrate.

Entrepreneurship is still alive and well

Despite everything that’s happening in the world, more and more people are deciding to bet on themselves and become entrepreneurs. New business applications in the U.S. were up 24% in 2020, and they’re on pace to eclipse that mark this year.

That pursuit of independent prosperity spilled over into our customer base. Here are just a few of the success stories from our users this past year:

We build our tools for you, so nothing makes us happier than seeing you use Leadpages to meet, exceed, and blow away your goals.

While 2021 still had its fair share of challenges, we’re so inspired by how resilient, motivated, and determined you all are. Yes, buying habits are changing and consumers don’t have the disposable income they used to. But you’re continuing to make entrepreneurship work.

Remember, money isn’t the only measure of success. Whether you doubled your revenue, generated new leads for your business, or simply published your first landing page or website, you should be proud of what you accomplished. It’s all part of the journey and we look forward to seeing where you take your business in 2022.

We gave back to some important causes

We believe everyone, no matter what their background is, deserves the chance to follow their dreams. That’s why we’re so passionate about supporting causes that lift people up and ensure everyone can be an entrepreneur.

This year, we were thrilled to participate in the following events:

  • Women’s History Month: We created a multi-series campaign on social media featuring a variety of female entrepreneurs.
  • Pride Month: Our team selected a series of LGBTQ+ organizations to support and Leadpages matched all donations.
  • National Women’s Small Business Month: We celebrated female entrepreneurship by featuring leading women-owned businesses in a virtual pop-up shop.
  • Give to the Max Day (Minnesota): Leadpages once again matched donations made by our team members to Minnesota nonprofits.

We’re already looking for more ways that we can give back to our community in 2022. And if you have any ideas about causes/organizations/businesses we should know about, we want to hear from you. Email us at support@leadpages.com.

We added new tools to help you build your business and your brand

The entrepreneurial landscape is constantly changing, and we want to provide you with tools that change along with it.

We’re constantly working to improve our product. We also listen to your feedback so we can continue to create the tools you need to grow your business.

As a result, this year we updated our website and landing page builders in a few different ways.

We made getting started easier

If you’re signing up for a Leadpages account you’re probably pretty anxious to start building your online presence. So, we recently added some checklists to your dashboard and the Drag & Drop Builder to make getting started quick and easy.

Walk through the steps to get to know your account, learn about the various tools in the builder, discover how to connect integrations, and publish your first page.

And of course, our customer success team is always standing by if you need help along the way.

We gave you a new way to access your leads

Here at Leadpages, we're all about helping you get leads for your business. But what you do once you get those leads is just as important, which is why this year we introduced the Leads Library.

With this new feature, all your leads (along with their submitted information) are stored in one place. You can easily search for contacts based on a number of different parameters, including name, campaign, and time period. This eliminates the need for spreadsheets and CRMs, making it easier than ever to find and sort your leads. This also makes it easier to import your leads into a new marketing tool, such as an email service; or to create lookalike audiences for your Facebook ads.

We gave you new tools to create your ideal brand

As an entrepreneur, you want to express yourself—and we want to give you the means to do that. That’s why we rolled out a few new features to allow you to flex your creative muscles:

  • Custom fonts: Leadpages comes preloaded with over 60 fonts, but now you also have the option to upload your own custom fonts for use on your landing pages, websites, pop-ups, and alert bars.

  • Page-level button styling: When you make changes to one of your buttons you can extend that change across all the buttons on your page (or website) in just one click.

  • Section animations: Want to add movement to your pages? Use animations to have sections slide and fade in, bounce, shake, and more.

  • Image editor: Our latest update makes it easy to crop, re-color, and enhance your background and in-line images from within the builder.

Order bumps are here!

Our most requested update allows you to offer additional or complementary items to customers during the checkout process.

Have an add-on item that enhances one of your products? Is there a certain item that your customers frequently buy when they purchase another product? Now you can give shoppers the option of adding these items to their order in just one click during the checkout process.

This is a great way to boost revenue and give your customers more of what they love!

You got a new dashboard

In today’s digital world, data is key. Getting the information you need when you need it can be the difference between a business-changing campaign and one that falls flat. Luckily, the new account dashboard we implemented this year does just that.

Now when you log in to your account you’ll see all your most important metrics:

  • Your recently updated landing pages, websites, pop-ups, and alert bars.
  • The last ten leads you’ve collected with your Leadpages assets.
  • Traffic, conversion, and total sales for your whole account.

You’ll also find a list of our upcoming training sessions to help you grow your marketing skills.

We hope you’re enjoying your new dashboard and we’ll continue to look for ways to give you even more information on your page and campaign performance.

Stay tuned over the next few months—we have more exciting product updates like these coming your way!

We started reviewing your pages… for free

Our Drag & Drop Builder makes getting online easy, but does it actually convert? A few years ago we introduced our Leadmeter to help you build higher converting pages, but there’s really no substitute for one-on-one expert coaching and advice. So, this year we decided to offer free reviews of your websites and landing pages.

With this in-app tool, you can submit your page for review and one of our marketing experts will give their feedback. We’ll offer suggestions on design and copy that will help drive even more conversions for your business.

Not only has this led to better results for our customers, but it’s also helped us share our knowledge with new entrepreneurs, which we love. In total, we provided over 800 custom landing page and website reviews this year. Here’s a sampling:

This is definitely a program we’ll continue into next year, and we’re excited to help you build more high-converting landing pages and websites!

We connected with thousands of entrepreneurs through live and virtual events

Small business owners around the world continued to get their conference fix through virtual events, and Leadpages was excited to teach sessions at many of them, including:

  • Club Innovation Conference
  • Fitness Business Association’s Succeed! (twice)
  • Skills Summit for virtual assistants and freelancers
  • FamilyPreneur Summit
  • Twin Cities Startup Week
  • Lead Generation Series with crowdspring

We also hosted Converted: From Post to Profit, a virtual workshop where we helped entrepreneurs grow their social media reach and win new customers, and sponsored Amy Porterfield’s Entrepreneur Experience. On top of all this, we held 50 live Conversion Coaching sessions where we provided landing page reviews and revamps for our users.

As the summer came to an end, we felt it was time to start connecting with you in person again, so we added some live events to our calendar. We held marketing trainings at Ashley Ann’s Accelerate 180 conference in Little Rock, Arkansas, Kelly Roach’s Game Changer 2021 in Miami, Florida, and we look forward to attending many more events in 2022.

Our family grew

But we’re not done yet! We’re looking to grow our team even more next year. Check out our current job postings if you’re interested in joining the Leadpages family.

We got really good at working from home, but still found ways to spend time together

2020 made working from home a necessity for many of us, and while the world is slowly opening back up, the work from home option is here to stay. Here at Leadpages, our team has the freedom to work from their home office whenever they choose, whether that’s for health reasons or to provide them with more flexibility. But this certainly hasn’t slowed us down.

That isn’t to say that there weren’t some speed bumps along the way. We had zoom goofs, physical and mental health challenges, good days and bad days. But instead of letting it get us down, we took this as an opportunity to really come together and work towards a common goal.

Whether they’re in the office or at home, our team continues to create valuable tools for our customers and provide industry-leading support. It just goes to show that it’s not where you work that matters, it’s how you work and who you’re working with.

That being said, communicating over Slack and Zoom does lose its charm after a while, so we made sure to find time to get together in person (while still following local health rules of course).

Whether it was an impromptu gathering at the office, relaxing around a backyard fire pit, or cheering on our hometown Minnesota Twins, we stayed social while also staying distanced when we needed to.

We moved

Speaking of getting together in person, we have a new office! While we encourage our team to work from wherever they feel most comfortable, we also want to ensure we have a space we can go to catch up with colleagues and collaborate on new projects.

Our new office is located in the 19th century Colonial Warehouse building in Minneapolis’ fast-growing North Loop neighborhood. We moved in during the fall and our staff has been loving the new digs. We can’t wait to see what new ideas this collaborative space helps generate!

Our affiliate program moved to PartnerStack

Our new office isn't the only move we made this year. We also migrated our affiliate program to PartnerStack. While our former platform did the job, it lacked some important functionalities that we wanted to provide to our partners. It was also better suited for ecommerce sales product sales, while PartnerStack excels with SaaS companies and our recurring revenue model.

Our program officially moved on November 1st, and our affiliates are loving their new tools and features, including:

  • An improved dashboard to view your transactions and commissions.
  • 3x longer cookie attribution (now 90 days).
  • Quicker payout schedule (on the 13th of every month immediately following the referring month).
  • Ability to see your referrals by name and email.
  • Access to more sales enablement content.
  • Access to various challenges and contests to boost your monthly payout.

Check out our Migration FAQ page for information on our move to PartnerStack.

We celebrated an anniversary

This year we celebrated our one-year anniversary with Redbrick. We joined their portfolio back in April 2020 and we’re already seeing the impact it’s had on our business.

Redbrick’s vision for Leadpages is the same as ours: to champion small businesses, make it easier for entrepreneurs to get online, and offer products that provide tangible results. The strategic insights and resources Redbrick has provided us have been key to us reaching a few different milestones, and we look forward to a long and successful partnership.

Happy holidays from Leadpages!

From everyone at Leadpages, happy holidays, happy new year, and good luck to you and your business!

As for us, we’ll continue to do what we always do: championing the entrepreneurial spirit, delivering value to our customers, actively participating in our diverse communities, empowering business owners with innovative tools, and working to help you achieve your goals. Because when you win, we win.

Here’s to a safe and successful 2022!
