Believe it or not, this week marks the one-year anniversary of the launch of LeadBoxes®, our two-step opt-in feature that allows you to build your email list and collect leads from virtually anywhere on your website. Since launching last December, we’ve consistently upgraded both the customizability and the functionality of LeadBoxes®. As you’ll see in our 10 favorite examples from the past month, LeadPages™ users are taking full advantage of those upgrades. If you’re looking for a fast, proven way to grow your email list and increase your conversion rates, you’ll find 10 ideas for doing exactly that in this post.
1. Luck League: Blog Post LeadBox™
[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="758"]
Chris Luck created a bold, attractive blog opt-in area that he then connected to a matching LeadBox™ to build his Luck League email list.[/caption] What Stands Out: As you can see, the bright yellow headline background and “Subscribe” button Chris created for his opt-in area instantly grab your attention when you get to the bottom of the post. This is a great example of utilizing a bold, contrasting color in a way that grabs attention without sacrificing good design. To see this example in action, click here.
2. LeadPages™: Sidebar LeadBoxes®
[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="758"]
This new sidebar LeadBox™ on the LeadPages™ blog utilizes a larger custom graphic in place of the standard progress bar.[/caption] What Stands Out: We at LeadPages™ consider ourselves to be the biggest users of our own product, so you’ll have to forgive me for citing one of our own LeadBoxes® as a favorite this month. ;) Since we offer two webinars on a weekly basis, we’ve included two LeadBoxes® in our blog sidebar, one for each webinar. On the LeadBox™ itself, we replaced the progress bar image with a graphic featuring Tim Paige, the host of the webinars, and details about the content and time. This makes for a visually impressive, informative experience for visitors. To see this example in action, check it out at the top of our sidebar to the right.
3. Traffic Jam: Timed Popup Content Upgrade LeadBox™
What Stands Out: The Traffic Jam podcast has taken advantage of our timed popup feature to make a LeadBox™ that builds their email list appear automatically after visitors have spent a few seconds on this page. They use this timed popup LeadBox™ to offer bonus content specifically related to the podcast episode featured on the page. This is an effective use of the “Content Upgrade” strategy, which we wrote about extensively here. To see this example in action, click here.
4. Performance Science Training Institute: Contact Form LeadBox™
[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="758"]
Performance Science Training Institute used the LeadBox™ built into the Small Business Home Page / Minisite template from the LeadPages™ Marketplace as a contact form.[/caption] What Stands Out: This example from the Performance Science Training Institute shows that you can use LeadBoxes® for more than building your email list — you can also use them as contact and query submission forms. As you can see, they added form fields that allow visitors to communicate their goal, questions, type of training they’re interested in, and more. This will allow them to create a custom-tailored program for each lead. To see this example in action, click here.
5. Amanda Stevens: Free Ebook Sidebar LeadBox™
[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="758"]
Amanda Stevens repurposed existing content into an attractive lead magnet offer for her sidebar.[/caption] What Stands Out: Do you have a book for sale? If so, take a tip from Amanda Stevens and turn a few of the chapters from your book into a ready-made lead magnet for your audience. This is a great way to take advantage of existing material to help you build your email list, while also offering your subscribers something of value. Amanda simply created an image featuring the book cover and title for her website’s sidebar, and then connected that image to a LeadBox™ she customized to feature her book’s cover. 6. Bike Roar: Free Subscription Sidebar LeadBox™
[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="758"]
Bike Roar uses this sidebar LeadBox™ to offer visitors a free digital subscription to Decline magazine.[/caption] What Stands Out: This example reveals a capability of LeadBoxes® that many users don’t realize exists — you can easily add elements like dropdown menus in addition to regular form fields. Here, Bike Roar has added a “Country” drop-down menu that allows them to capture their visitors’ location. If your prospects’ location is critical to your sales process, then adding this type of field can be a wise choice. To see this example in action, click here.
7. Renegade Planner: Free Report Home Page LeadBox™
[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="758"]
Renegade Planner's opt-in call to action is one of the first things visitors see when they land on her home page.[/caption] What Stands Out: One of your best opt-in opportunities exists in the first area visitors see when they land on your home page. Renegade Planner took advantage of this prime real estate by offering visitors a free report when they join her email list via a simple “Start Here” button connected to a LeadBox™. She then customized the LeadBox™ to perfectly match her branding and colors. To see this example in action, click here.
8. New Edge Marketing: Free Report Blog Sidebar LeadBox™
[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="758"]
This well-designed sidebar image is a perfect match for New Edge Marketing's colors and branding.[/caption] What Stands Out: New Edge Marketing created two great conceptualized images of their digital guide to inbound marketing in this example. Their sidebar graphic features the guide displayed on a tablet, while the LeadBox™ displays a 3D version. These types of conceptualized images can increase the perceived value of your lead magnet in your visitors’ minds. And when perceived value increases, so do conversions.
9. Pinch of Yum: Email List Blog Post LeadBox™
[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="758"]
Adding an opt-in area to the bottom of your blog posts is still a great way to build your email list.[/caption] What Stands Out: Have a flagship lead magnet that you know converts well? Creating an attractive opt-in area at the bottom of your blog posts (like the folks at Pinch of Yum did in this example) can be a great way to collect new leads with every blog post. If you don’t have time to create post-specific content upgrades, this is a proven, effective alternative. To see this example in action, click here.
10. Cottage Blogger: Podcast Episode LeadBox™
[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="758"]
Cottage Blogger uses this LeadBox™ to offer bonus content to podcast listeners.[/caption] What Stands Out: The bold banner image that Cottage Blogger created for their Vacation Rental Podcast Starter Pack caught my eye right away. Like some of the previous examples, Cottage Blogger created an image that stands out without hurting your eyes. The conceptualized folder image of the starter pack also gets your attention and hints at all the value packed into their lead magnet. To see this example in action, click here.
