What are the building blocks of a great landing page? An engaging image. A vivid call-to-action button. A compelling value proposition. I could go on—but stop a moment and think about the “building blocks” idea itself. If someone tells you to go create a new webpage, that might sound a little intimidating. Where do you start? Do you need to have a big, innovative concept to work from? Can we put this off till tomorrow? But if you think of a landing page as a simple collection of building blocks you combine in order of importance, things become much easier. You focus on making each element as good as it can be while supporting the page’s main call to action. Stack those building blocks up, and you have a powerful page that comes together as easy as A, B, C. LeadPages® landing page templates are designed to make this approach a natural one, and you can tell when a landing page creator has taken full advantage of it. That seems to be the case with every one of the best landing pages we saw this month in the LeadPages® community. The marketers behind them have combined a variety of elements that—while each effective on their own—come together to support the page’s call to action in a very striking way. We want to make it just as simple for you to put together the pieces of a knockout campaign, so we’re giving you 8 of the templates used in this post. Click below to download:

  • The Testimonials Sales Page

1. DeveloperWeek – Testimonial Sales Page

DeveloperWeek

What Stands Out: The LeadPages team has built several templates designed to serve as minisites for your live events, but not every event can be contained within a single page. Sometimes it’s wise to create different landing pages for different audiences your event needs to reach—such as attendees, performer, or, in this case, potential sponsors. San Francisco’s DeveloperWeek makes its conference feel warm and inviting through a soft-edged background photo of the city and pink color scheme. (Note how even the video still has a rosy glow.) The copy leads with a list of “5 reasons to get involved,” snaring the attention of every potential vendor before targeting different kinds of companies with a list of sponsorship opportunities below. Also smart: the use of photography. In spaces originally designed to showcase photos of happy testimonial-givers on this Testimonial Sales Page, DeveloperWeek adds photos from past events that let visitors see firsthand how their sponsorship could impact conference guests. 2. GMB Fitness – Live Event Page

Handbalancing Workshop

What Stands Out: Your event doesn’t have to be a complex, multi-day affair to benefit from the promotional boost of a landing page like this Live Event Page. GMB Fitness uses it to fill a specialty fitness class with grace. I’m not sure I’ve seen a more effective use of background imagery than on this page. If any visitors weren’t quite sure what a hand balance was, the header photo shows them right away with a spread of upside-down students being spotted and coached by attentive teachers. It’s informative but, thanks to the black-and-white filter, not distracting. Below, we find a concise copy, appealing instructor bios, and just enough nuts-and-bolts details to help visitors know if they should sign up. Click here to see this well-balanced page.

3. Trillium Montessori – Smart Product Sales Page

Montessori

What Stands Out: A one-room school in North Carolina reaches out to a whole world of Montessori educators with this landing page. Founder Seemi invites them to join her email list by leading with a pack of 30 printable activities to use with students. The collage-style illustration gives a peek at what’s in store and, via its design savvy, makes clear that you’ll be receiving a high-quality product. In the sections below, Seemi tells visitors exactly how her subscription program works and what they can expect to receive (including deep discounts on her paid products). To add a personal touch, she closes with a bio, signature, and a charming video of her school in session.

4. Gianni Cara – Social Proof Giveaway Page

quora

What Stands Out: In addition to writing about personal productivity for his own project, SmartLab, Gianni Cara has built a following as an avid contributor to the question-and-answer site Quora. To give his Quora audience a chance to join his email list, he’s directed them to this focused landing page. This page’s strategic savvy is a big part of why it makes the cut this month—after all, you could hardly ask for a more natural audience for your business than people who are eagerly soaking up your expertise on a site like Quora. But it also uses some smart copy to drive opt-ins. At every turn, Gianni reminds visitors why they landed here (“Here’s what I promised you … I am glad you enjoyed my answer on Quora and that you are interested in managing your emails better!”), subtly encouraging them to finish what they started and opt-in. The page’s Quoran red-and-gray palette makes the journey from post reader to subscriber feel all the more natural. See this simply effective page here.

5. Quintessential Services – Free Consultation Page

Quintessential Services

What Stands Out: This Free Consultation Page is every bit as polished as you’d hope to see from a virtual assistant service you were hoping to hire. It’s elegant from start to finish, using pops of gold to draw the eye down the black-and-white page. (Note how the use of color instantly links the company’s name with the word “trust.”) Although Quintessential operates remotely, they use this page to begin to build a personal connection by talking about their team’s background, including customer testimonials, and even showing their location on an embedded map. It’s details like these that assure you that real, competent people are waiting to help your business on the other end of this page. See this helpful page here.

6. Effective Soccer Training Program – Adwords/PPC 2.0 Landing Page

Soccer Training Program

What Stands Out: When you’re marketing a digital product, it can be hard to convey both the details of the program and its impact on customers’ offline lives. Effective manages to do that in the very first screen of this Adwords/PPC 2.0 Landing Page, showing the training software on a gorgeous background image of a soccer player in motion. Both images reinforce the headline: “Your dreams of becoming a world-class soccer player are a click away.” I’d highly recommend clicking through to see this page for yourself because it has another cool trick for making software exciting: an animated gif showing the training schedule function in action. Even I want to use this product, and I haven’t touched a soccer ball since high school gym class.

7. The Classical Scholar – Ebook Landing Page from Pat Flynn

Impromptu Speech

What Stands Out: Diane Lockman created her site The Classical Scholar as an evolving resource for parents homeschooling their children. She reaches out to new prospective subscribers with a special offer on this Ebook Landing Page. Diane’s created an ideal opt-in bonus: high-value content (52 prompts) with a precise focus and immediate appeal to her audience of parents who take an active role in their kids’ education. And from the bright colors to the playful fonts to the confident copy, visitors are assured that it’ll be a pleasure to learn from The Classical Scholar. Take an impromptu tour of this page here.

8. Kyla Roma – Blog Resources Page

roma

What Stands Out: Kyla Roma is a business coach and digital strategist, so this Blog Resources Page is a perfect way to share tools that’ll be relevant to her audience while potentially earning her affiliate commisions from partner brands. Kyla explains all that warmly and transparently in her introduction, followed by descriptions of her favorite tools that make it obvious how well she knows and loves them. (And I’m not just saying that because LeadPages® is among them.) The page is bookended by pops of personality, from Kyla’s headshot at the top to her fun, half-handwritten logo at the bottom. Watch this page work here.

9. Petrina Hamm – Telesummit/Virtual Summit/Multi-Speaker Event Page

summer

What Stands Out: Petrina Hamm’s primary career is as a fitness coach, and this Telesummit/Virtual Summit/Multi-Speaker Event Page feels as peppy and aspirational as any top athletic company’s site. It starts with her choice of a simple theme to unify the page and make her offer stand out from others: this isn’t just a multipart online course, it’s summer school. Photos and copy throughout the page play up the theme and reinforce the notion that, as Petrina says, the course will be “a fun & casual experience that packs a ton of value & strategy at the same time.” It’s a fairly long page for a free offer (click through below to see the whole thing), but internal navigation and keeping the function of each section distinct let visitors breeze through it and sign up.

10. Jenny Beres – Custom Landing Page

Radio Show

What Stands Out: With the arrival of LeadPages’ drag-and-drop page builder, anyone can do what Jenny Beres has done here and create a totally custom landing page. This page proves that it doesn’t take a lot of design expertise. Jenny has arranged a handful of simple elements—header image, call to action, and “letter from the host” into an elegant, easy-to-read single-column page. It could seem austere, but the copy makes everything feel both lively and personal. Jenny explains how she “started a copywriting business with nothing but $75 and a laptop,” and wraps up by inviting visitors to exclaim: “Heck yes! I want to be a wealthy writer.”
